In 1989 a Chinese Pastor, Rev. Peter Kung opened his Bible to the Isaiah 6:8. God asked him, “What have you done for China?” Pastor Kung cried for three days. While he served in North America for many years, he did not pay attention to his home country. In 1996 Pastor Kung gave up his pastoral position and returned to Hong Kong to prepare for his ministry in China. Following his trip to China, the Holy Spirit moved him, “Rise and go to western China.” He saw the need for Christian churches in Yun-nan Province. He established the Huaxi Foundation to aid both the Christians and the non-Christians in the region.
According to statistics, Huaxi Foundation has helped more than 400 Minority Chinese students in the High Mountain region. Tuition scholarships have been awarded to 500 outstanding students in 2003.
